If anyone wanted or needed to win a big TV title more than Michael, then it shows that this story had its happy ending at last. Michael made it lucky no.9 by finally bagging a big TV Major in the shape of the Grand Slam of Darts title.

If anyone player or fan would begrudge Smith of his win then surely, they wouldn't be fans of the sport. Michael has worn his heart on his tattooed sleeve for long enough and shed many a tear in the chase for a big one. With many saying jibes and comments about being a nearly man. Not any more as Bully Boy has overcome Nathan Aspinall who had a great run to the final and wouldn't begrudge Michael a well-deserved win on this occasion.

What a cracking tournament that has been and only sets up the remainder of the year to be something as equally as special.

We as dart fans here at GW just cannot wait!!

Usually darts on the whole is a winner but, on this occasion, Michael Smith you are the Grand Slam of Darts 2022 CHAMPION and your name will forever be etched on that beautiful trophy.
